Amazon.com Product Description Pioneer's TS-A6993R 6-by-9-inch five-ways now feature upgraded power handling of 460 watts max. (80 watts nominal). And this year, the A-Series speaker line feature something they've inherited from the D-Series speakers, a basalt cone. Pioneer continues to set an example with next-generation technology for improved sound: the tweeter, magnets, surrounds, the voice coil wire, the basket and more are all high-performance components that make up a great speaker. | Pioneer's A-Series Speakers Pioneer A-series speakers outperform factory speakers on nearly every level. Packing a powerful punch, A-Series speakers are equipped with up to three independent tweeters with reinforced woofers, so every beat is heard and felt. Featuring a bigger, better cone than most OEM speakers, the A-series boasts serious output and booming bass. Extra-sensitive tweeters play at higher frequencies and are capable of handling stronger audio signals, resulting in vocals that are crisp and clear, even when you crank the volume. | TS-A6993R Features Carbon Graphite IMPP Interlaced Aramid/Basalt Fiber Cone One of our major speaker breakthroughs was IMPP (Injection-Molded Polypropylene), which allowed cones to be lighter AND more rigid. Then we added long stands of Aramid fibers into the mix, for extra strength. Now, we've gone even further with the TS-A6993Rs, adding basalt and carbon graphite interlaced with long aramid fibers to provide strength and rigidity that powerful bass sound requires. High-density compressed internal architecture is resilient, stacks up against high power well and transfers sound quickly. The result is full-bodied, rich sound with midrange depth that conventional IMPP cones cannot match, and the durability to stand up to the high volume levels, humidity, and temperature extremes that thrash other speakers. Large Diaphragm Tweeter The newly developed tweeter disperses sound more widely with superior control, providing listeners with the best sound under all conditions, regardless of listening position or car. And the 1" mounting depth achieves more flexible installation. Heat Resistant Polyester-Imide Resin Voice Coil Wire Creating mechanical energy is hot work, especially at high volume levels. And as we all know, heat can cause distortion. That's why the TS-A6993R uses a heat-resistant polyester-imide resin voice coil wire. It allows the voice coil to handle more heat, improving input power handling as well as reliability. So go ahead. Turn it up. Power Handling The TS-A6993R now handles a full 460 watts max. power (80 watts nominal). Along with enhanced power handling, you still get the same high performance that all the TS-A's deliver |

| Customer Reviews: I like em! May 19, 2010 Orangejbird (NW-Wisconsin) Put in an older Mopar with a Pioneer head unit and 760W amp. Sound good to me.
I'm no audiophile though.
Decent Product May 1, 2010 R. Nakano (Sacramento, CA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This MSRP is $179 for these speakers, bought it for $75 on Amazon.com, very happy about the price I paid. When I got them installed, they sounded a little bit flat. I heard you have to buy a amplifier for them to sound good. Due to the fact that I drive a camry, I don't really care much about blasting my music, so in that respect, they're perfect for me. The stock speakers have an Ohm rating of 8, and the Pioneer speakers have a rating of 4, so the stock speakers actually sound better to me.
Great Upgrade for 2005 Camry XLE JBL speakers January 16, 2010 John J. (Sacramento,CA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Update: The speakers sound great! And I recently installed a Pioneer GM6400F amplifier and the sound is greatly improved. So get an amplifier to get the most out of your sound system and speakers.
The Toyota JBL system is a poor investment for a sound system upgrade. The OEM deck has a lot of distortion and the music that comes out of it, particularly from the CD player, seems attenuated specially in the higher frequencies. It just sounds like there's a veil between the source and the speakers. It's hard to describe. I'm getting the the Pioneer AVHP3100DVD to replace the deck. I'll keep you posted.
Original:So I was in search for a great upgrade for the front and rear speakers for my 2005 Camry XLE JBL speakers. I basically wanted to get better sound from my aging car and the though the JBL speakers were good, the lack of tweeters does deter from a great listening experience. And I found my car's system to be too boomy since the JBL set has a ReDistributed Subwoofer set up. So the first upgrade that I did were to replace the front and rear speakers with 6x9 5-way. OMG, the sound experience is amazing. They are a great upgrade to the JBL with a crisp, clear sound that is almost night and day with the old JBL. I prefer a Fader setup of R3 to have a more surround feel though I noticed that I will have put the volume to around 50. But I was able to replace all four 6x9 speakers for around $160. What a GREAT BUY!!!
And if you want to save more money, have a local mom-and-pop audio installation do it for you. I had mine done for about $80.
I decided to put a 4 channel 600 watt Pioneer amplifier but that project is pending. And I'm thinking of replacing the dash speakers with Pioneer 2 way speakers. I'll keep you guys posted how that turns out.
So summary, if you want to upgrade your camry sound system, start with these though a new amplifier may be required.

Great great speakers. The bass is almost like "true bass". The clarity is outstanding. I would tell anyone this product is great and needs to be purchased. I think I'll need to purchase an Amp just to get the full effect of what this speaker has to offer. GREAT GREAT BUY!
